Yulia O’Mahony believes that the wellbeing of people and a culture of inclusion should be front of mind for all businesses for commercial as well as societal reasons. That’s why she took up the exciting opportunity of becoming the John Lewis Partnership’s first ever Wellbeing Lead in 2017, growing her remit to become first Head of D&I and Wellbeing in 2018. Since then, she’s been working closely with JLP’s executive team and other senior leaders to get to grips with what wellbeing and inclusion mean in today’s world as well as the impact it has on the UK’s largest co-owned business. She’s been developing JLP’s wellbeing and D&I strategy and piloting some new initiatives, through working with The Samaritans, Unmind, BIT/ The Nudge Unit, Wellcome Trust and others.
Yulia believes that to tackle the challenges we face we need to work collaboratively and reach out across academia, government, charitable sector and private employers to create innovative approaches to this broad agenda.
Yulia has a wealth of experience in strategy, operations, and finance, having worked for leading consulting firms in UK, USA, Europe and Russia, as well as holding leadership roles in John Lewis. Before taking her present role, she worked with British Retail Consortium to develop the Retail 2020 programme which focuses on creating better jobs in UK retail.
