Mei Chen joined the Alibaba Group in 2015 as an early employee of the Globalisation team to lead Alibaba’s expansion to international markets. More recently, Mei has been instrumental in the creation of Alibaba Group’s ecommerce luxury offering, partnering with leading luxury and fashion houses. Mei has been focused on helping international luxury and fashion brands better understand the Chinese consumer market and enabling them to tap into the significant opportunities that it presents. Mei also leads several projects across Alibaba Group’s ecosystem, supporting brands which are looking to leverage Alibaba’s technologies and innovation. Additionally, Mei is the international lead for Alibaba's flagship fashion shows including Tmall Collection, Taobao maker festival's West Lake show and Tmall China Cool, among others.
In her role, Mei leverages extensive knowledge of the digital, technology and retail industries, having worked for Google and General Electric in the US and Europe.
In her free time, Mei advises and supports SMEs with areas such as online marketing strategies, monetisation, international expansion, and advises CXOs on a variety of topics.
Mei holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management and Finance from Carlos III University of Madrid (Spain) and also studied at HEC Paris (France). Mei is also an alumnus of Harvard Business School (USA).
