Retail Week General Counsel

What is the General Counsel Summit?

The summit will be taking place on March 8, day 2 of Retail Week Live 2018. This is the single largest gathering of in-house retail legal teams at the UK’s only impartial summit of retail lawyers. New regulations, such as the GDPR, are dramatically changing how retailers operate and legal teams have been working frantically to make sure their businesses are compliant. The GDPR legislation, which comes into force in May next year, gives consumers greater control over their personal data and with fines of up to 4% of global turnover or 20 million euros the risks of getting it wrong are substantial.

It is not just increased regulation that is changing how retail legal teams operate. Retail is fast-changing as online continues to grow, data increasingly drives business decisions and the role of the store changes. This event will enlighten delegates on the direction of travel, how to manage risk in this fast-changing environment and how legal teams need to adapt.
