Thierry Garnier has been CEO of Kingfisher plc, the international home improvement company, since September 2019. He is also a non-executive director of Tesco plc.
Thierry is an experienced, international retailer having spent 20 years in senior roles at Carrefour, the French multi-national retailer. Before joining Kingfisher, he was a member of the Carrefour Group Executive Committee and CEO of Carrefour Asia. F
rom 2003 to 2008, he was Managing Director of Supermarkets for Carrefour France. Following this he became Carrefour's International Operations Director, with a remit including Asia, Latin America and various European countries.
Thierry has Master’s Degrees in Engineering from École Polytechnique, Paris, and from École des Mines de Paris and began his career with the French Civil Service before pursuing his passion for retail.
A French national, also fluent in Mandarin, Thierry now lives in London. In 2016, Thierry was awarded the Chevalier de l’Ordre National de la Légion d’Honneur (France).
