After a first career as a Strategic Planning Director at a number of leading London advertising agencies Helen discovered her passion for innovation and, 25 years ago, her second career was born! Alongside her work as a Director at Unpackaged Systems, Helen runs her own highly successful Innovation, Insight and Brand Positioning consultancy, Where There’s Smoke.

Helen leads the innovation work at Unpackaged, developing new solutions design as well as the behaviour change practice.

By her nature, Helen is collaborative, curious, commercially savvy, challenging, and always ready to lean into the challenges with clients.

What working outside advertising has given her is extensive experience of brand, product and service creation as well as exposure to the kind of upstream development of commercial and operational strategies which support growth opportunities. It has also confirmed to her that for solutions to work they need to be simple, differentiated and above all actionable.
